How many seasons did Chanel launch each year?

We always hear Chanel new season items/ new handbag elements, or even price increase each year. Or when we purchase a pair of shoes, a handbag or earrings, there are stickers on packing box or tag hanged on the handbag, or there are tiny metal piece engraved some numbers & letters at the back of Chanel earrings, which representing the season of the item.

So Chanel has several season each year and there are codes to represent the season launched of the items. The season code is a combination of a letter and two digits of number to indicate the year and season collection. Here below are the letters and their representing season collections.

 

C - Cruise Collection

P - Spring/Summer Act 1

S - Spring/Summer Act 2

A - Autumn/ Pre-fall

B - Fall/Winer Act 1

K - Fall/Winter Act 2

 

You will often see season code V at the back of Chanel earrings, which is not seen on the above. It is a classic collection that doesn't belong to any season.

 

V - Classic/continuous Collection

 

   

 

Each season collection has a unique theme and is from different inspiration that can be reflected on the designs and materials used. Or there is special design element on different handbag types in the same season, such as special CC hardware, special printed pattern tweed or seasonal colour.

Chanel Cruise Collection / Resort Collection

Specially I'd like to introduce the Cruise collection (C). It is a more signature and outstanding collection as it specifically launches design of vacation-ready pieces and in a more tropical and exotic style. It is also called the "Resort Collection".

Chanel Métiers d' Art collection

 

Also, there is Métiers d' Art collection. Métiers d’Art is French for ‘Master of Art’. It is a celebration of the brand's heritage and craftsmanship. The first Métiers d' Art collection was in 2002. This collection is mainly featuring intricate and handcrafted pieces that are inspired by the work of the House skilled artisans. Therefore this collection presents fine details and art work like embroidery and braiding.
