As you know, each Hermès bag contains its unique code as identification - Date Stamp. You can read the stamp to know the manufacture year of your handbag and the area of the bag craftman worked. The first single alphabet stamp represents the year. And here we organized a table as an easy guide for you to decode the date stamp on your Hermès handbag.

*From 1971 to 1996, the first alphabet of the stamp in this period is in a circle.
*And then from 1997 to 2014, the first alphabet was changed to be in a square.
*To be noticed, 2014 stamp can be both with or without square on the first alphabet as it started to be a bare letter again from that year.

Hi, I have an old Hermes Constance bag. The alphabet “R” is stamped in the inner zipper pocket at the edge. Is this an authentic bag? Is it 1962?

I just got the 2021 twill H & Swift fray fray I found my stamp it starts with a Z can you tell me if Hermes has a website look up to verify it?

My Constance has 3 letters and 3 numbers on the first row. The first letter is an “E” and the last is a “U.” I believe I’m supposed to look at the first letter for the date which is the E but there’s no E. Is my bag not authentic? TIA!
